The richest women in the world have interesting backgrounds. From generation to generation they make wealthy business owners and have had wealth passed on to them. Some of them inherited the money from their late husbands. Many of the richest women in the world live in American. Some richest women in the U.S.A are follows.

1. Christy Walton ($25.3 billion)

Christy Walton is the widow of John Walton, son of Walmart founder Sam Walton. In 2006 John Walton died in a plane crash, in just six months Christy inherited his fortune including enough stock to make more than $220 million in dividends. With the recent Walmart's stock, day by day Walton family's wealth has continued to grow. 

2. Alice Walton ($23.3 billion)

Alice Walton is the daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton. She recently opened an art museum with art being displayed from the Walton estate. Although she is busy with numerous charitable organizations, her reputation had clouded by a series of DUI arrests.



3. Jacqueline Mars ($13.8 billion)

Jacqueline Mars made her money from Snickers, M&Ms, Dog Food and many of the household products that we use every day. Currently The Mars company revenue is $30 billion annually and is the American's largest confectionary company. Jacqueline is the third generation of his family.  Her grandfather, Frank Mars, founded the company in 1911.


4. Anne Cox Chambers ($12.5 billion)

James Cox is the founder of Cox Enterprises, Anne Cox is his daughter. James Cox worked as a school teacher until buying a local newspaper in 1898. After that his business sparked a media business that includes 15 TV stations, 86 radio stations and 17 newspapers.



5. Abigail Johnson ($10. 3 billion)

Abigail Johnson began working at Fidelity in 1988 as an analyst, She is already one of the top executives at the firm. Her father Edward Crosby "Ned" Johnson who controls Fidelity Investments is the largest mutual fund company in the United States.
